EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is particularly helpful for treating psychological and physical symptoms stemming from adverse life experiences (Shapiro, 2014).

By activating the brain’s innate healing processes, EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.

EMDR is an evidence-based treatment, which has been extensively researched and shown to be highly effective for PTSD and other trauma responses, including disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences (Maxfield, 2019).

EMDR does not require you to talk in depth about your trauma and, in fact, past traumatic memories can be processed without the therapist knowing what they are.

Together, we will determine whether this is the right treatment for you, and I will be more than happy to answer any questions along the way as they pop up.
